hyperakusi I, II
sound

For 8 channels audio system

Hyperakusi is a series of works that introduce hypothetical spaces in which sound is experienced. These spaces are, in contrast to architectural structures, designed to create specific listening experiences.

For the pieces included in this body of work, acoustical prediction methods are used to derive the sonic behavior of imaginary rooms, enabling the artist to work freely with the temporal and spatial aspects inherent with natural sound transmission. The computer-modelled physical structures are sonified through an auralization process that builds immersive sound fields and which enable an intimate listening experience in continuously shifting settings.
